About Liana
Liana looks exactly as composed as she is, which is unusual. Height 167 cm, the build slim, the chestnut brown hair long and straight, and brown eyes that settle on you and stay there while you finish a thought. Her wardrobe is disciplined: dark tailoring, a silk shirt, a watch rather than bracelets, and shoes that have clearly walked on the City's cobbles before. At 28 she has arrived at a look and stopped negotiating with it, and the effect in a room full of people still trying things out is considerable.
She is dry, curious and slightly formal until about the twentieth minute, after which she is very good company indeed. She has English and nothing else, and handles it with the precision of a woman who hates being misunderstood. Her private subject is old currency, coins and notes and the strange things printed on them, which is a peculiar hobby to hold eight hundred metres from the Bank of England and she knows it. She is politely uninterested in gossip and genuinely interested in how people decide things.
Her evening here goes up. Coq d'Argent, sixth floor of No.1 Poultry, reached by a lift that opens straight into a garden most people walking past have no idea exists. She books for 18:15 on a Thursday, before the terrace fills, and sits where the Royal Exchange and the Bank portico line up below. After that she will walk you down Lombard Street, which takes four minutes and two hundred years. Marylebone is home; she comes east on the Central line and treats the City out of hours as a place with the lights left on.
Her corner of the City is on the Bank and Monument page. £250 buys the hour, and the longer evenings are set out on rates. A message to booking needs a date and a start time, nothing else.

Booking her evening
Drinks above Poultry and dinner afterwards need three hours at £700, though the terrace alone is an easy two at £500. Thursday fills fast up there, so give the desk two days where you can.
Her figures are the desk figures, printed in full on the rates page, and the whole arrangement runs in one thread from the first line to the confirmation.

An evening with Liana
The lift is the trick and she enjoys watching it work on people. Six floors, doors open, and instead of a corridor there is a clipped garden on a roof in the middle of the square mile with the traffic six floors below and the Bank junction laid out like a diagram of itself. She takes the drink slowly and asks what your week has actually been, not what it has looked like. Around half past seven the terrace fills with the after work crowd and she suggests moving before it becomes loud, which it reliably does. Down at street level she will take Lombard Street towards the Monument, pointing out the hanging signs that every bank used before anyone could read. Dinner from there is a decision you make together, and she is easy about where.
Liana, in her own words
Coins? Really coins?
Really. A shilling that has passed through four hundred hands tells you more about a century than most books manage in a chapter.
Is the City dead in the evening?
Quiet, not dead. Between seven and ten it is the most beautiful empty city in Europe and hardly anybody stays to see it.
Formal or relaxed?
Start formal and let it unwind. I am wary of anyone who is best friends with me in the first ten minutes.

What guests have written
Nothing is written here for Liana yet, which is usually what discretion looks like in E14. A note appears only when a guest writes one, she agrees to it, and the desk has checked that it reads as a first name, a month and nothing private.
